I started to use the internal voltage reference. It seems like it affects the internal temperature sensor, so instead of recalibrating the temperature sensor I made the program turn the voltage reference off before reading the temperature. Now the sensor is showing a little too high values at lower humidity. But it is good enough to be put into operation. 

I finally got hold of a bag with 25 kg calsiumcloride. I seems a little slow but very efficient, at least in my small experiment. I put a tablespoon of it in a box with 94 % humidity and within 24 hours the humidity is down to 37 %.
If it keeps on like this a will have to be careful not to expose the boat for to much of it, it may cause the cherry interior to crack.
